ONITSHA – The Founder of Pray for Nigeria Group, Rev. Uma Ukpai, has urged Nigerians to continue to pray against the schemes of violent politicians and manipulators of elections.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”10″]
Ukpai made the call on Saturday during an all-night prayer programme in Onitsha.
“ Nobody’s ambition is worth anybody’s blood; so we must pray and move the hand of God against such violent politicians and those intending to cause trouble by manipulating elections,’’ he said.
The interdenominational Christian programme which was entitled, “Why Do the Heathen Rage?, ’’ was held at the Godwin Achebe Stadium in Onitsha.
The cleric, who said that politicians do not need to be desperate to become leaders, added: “We don’t need to kill to succeed; already the country is becoming very tense.
“It should never be a do or die business; in other countries of the world, they change government without killing anybody.
“Part of it is our ignorance, ignorance of what God will do when we kill one another, when we kill anybody, when we hurt somebody; that person you plan to hurt, God has interest in him or her.
“So we have come to ask God to protect us in the East and Nigeria in general during the elections and after the elections,’’ he said.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria’s economy would recover and show great prospects, adding that the current downturn was not peculiar to Nigeria.

“It is funny that people only count their losses; they don’t count their gains. If our own goes down, it will definitely rise up,’’ he said.
The cleric further said that “all is well with the country in God’s programme and it will only continue to get better.’’ (NAN)
