Lafia – A Christian cleric in Nasarawa State, Dr Lawrence Anyembugu, has urged the people of the state to pray and support Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed in the delivery of the much needed dividends of democracy to the electorate.
He said that it was to too early to assess the governor’s performance in office in six months.
Anyembugu, who is the Parish Priest in charge of St John Catholic Church, Awe, Nasarawa State, stated this on Thursday while addressing newsmen after he received an award for Grassroots, Priestly Services and Community Development.
It was during the 20th anniversary of Eggon News, a community newspaper in the state.
Anyembugu urged the people of the state to continue to pray and support Gov. Sule and other leaders to succeed in the tasks ahead of them.
The man of God urged Nigerians not to curse their leaders but to continue praying for them to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to the electorate.
He appreciated the founder of the Eggon news, Mr Matthew Kuju, for the award while assuring him of continued prayers and support to enable the community newspaper to thrive.
According to him, I will continue to preach the word of God and touch the lives of the people positively as I used to do.
“Last year, I organised mass wedding for over 140 couples, free medical treatment, football tournament among others.
“I want to thank the founder of this community Eggon Newspaper for the award.
“I am commending the publication for promoting peace, unity among Eggon people, the people of the state and Nigeria at large through positive reportage.
“I want to use this medium to call on the people of the state to pray for Gov. Abdullahi Sule and other leaders to succeed.
“As it is too early to assess Gov. Sule’s performance in six months, let us pray for him for God’s guidance, protection and favour.
“It is said that prayer is the key to success and every leader needs the support and prayers of his people to succeed,” he said.
Anyembugu urged the management of Eggon News not to fail while performing its duties for the overall development of the people and the state at large.
Earlier, Kuju, the Founder of the newspaper said that he decided to give awards to 20 persons for contributing positively to the development of the newspaper and the society at large.
