Abuja – The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Bello, has advised FCT intending Muslim pilgrims for the 2016 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia to be good ambassadors while in the holy land.
The minister also urged the pilgrims to pray for the country to enable it overcome its current challenges.
Bello spoke on Thursday at the permanent Hajj camp, Bassan Jiwa, Abuja, at a ceremony to mark the departure of the first batch of 2016 FCT intending pilgrims.
The minister also reminded Hajj officials that their assignment was a trust from Allah.
“You should discharge your duties diligently by assisting the intending pilgrims to attain an acceptable Hajj as ordained by Allah.
“I want you to have at the back of your mind that going to Saudi Arabia is primarily to serve the pilgrims not for personal gains.
“As such, the Administration will not tolerate any lackadaisical attitude or act of indiscipline from any official in handling pilgrims’ affairs, ”he said.
Malam Bashir Muhammad, the Director, FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, commended the minister for the adequate logistics provided by the FCT Administration for the comfort of the intending pilgrims.
He said that 2,975 intending Muslim pilgrims from the FCT are expected to perform the pilgrimage.
The director said that adequate arrangements had been made in Makkah and Madinah for all the intending pilgrims to ensure a smooth Hajj. (NAN)
