Price of onions skyrockts at Lagos market

LAGOS – The price of a 100 kilogramme of onions, rose on Friday, hitting N21,571 at the Mile 12 market in Lagos for the week ended Dec. 5.
This is contained in the commodity index made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos by Novus Agro Nigeria Ltd in Lagos.
The index showed that the commodity sold for N15,667 in the previous week ended Nov 28, indicating a N5,904 increase.
Similarly, the price of garri slightly rose from N5,583 per 60kg bag last week to N5,643 during the week under review.
Sorghum also went up slightly by N83 with a 100kg bag from the previous week’s price of N7,000.
Meanwhile, the cost of a 100kg bag of groundnut, 100kg bag of maize, 50kg bag of imported rice, and soya beans remained stable.
A 100kg bag of groundnut remained the same at N17,000 while a measure of one paint bucket is selling for N750.
A 100kg bag of maize also did not change selling at N5,500 and N319 for one paint bucket measure.
A 50kg bag of imported rice also remained stable at N9,000.
The price a 100kg bag of soya beans also remained stable at N13,500. (NAN)
