Sokoto- Sen. Ahmad Maccido ( PDP-Sokoto), who is seeking re-election, has been granted automatic ticket in Sunday’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial primary elections.
The PDP Chairman in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim Milgoma, announced this while addressing newsmen in Sokoto.
“ Maccido was actually given an automatic ticket by the party to contest for the Sokoto Central Senatorial zone seat.
“But, another member of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji, felt cheated and bought the party’s nomination form, although he withdrew from the race on Dec. 5,” Milgoma said.
According to him, delegates from the eight local government areas that made up the zone will still conduct the exercise to ratify the decision.
Milgoma, however, stated that two aspirants would slug it out for the Sokoto East Senatorial zone ticket.
They are : Alhaji Dahiru Gandi and Alhaji Yushau Goronyo from Rabah and Goronyo local government areas , respectively.
He also said that four aspirants were contesting for the seat of the Sokoto South Senatorial zone.
They are : Amb. Chika Sarkin –Yaki; Alhaji Mahe Dange; Alhaji Kiryo Yabo; and Amb. Ladan Shuni.
“We have completed all necessary arrangements to ensure that the elections are conducted peacefully across the state,” the chairman said.( NAN)
