Abuja- The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, on Thursday, urged Christians to remain optimistic about Nigeria as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The Primate, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, said this during Christmas service at St. Mathew’s Anglican Church in Abuja.
Okoh said Christians in the country should continue to keep up their hopes and trust in the Lord.
He expressed his conviction that there was hope for the country and its people.
“There is hope for us, there is hope for Nigeria, there is hope for individuals, there is hope for us as a community of people.
“The spirit of God will enter into the bones and there will be new life, dry bones shall live again, the dry bones shall get flesh and gather strength.’’
He further talked about the politics of Nigeria, saying politicians should bear in mind that Nigerians have expectations and they have choice between good and bad candidates in 2015 general elections.
In his remarks, Benjamin Ndume, the Supervising Priest of St. Mathew’s Anglican Church, said Christmas was a season of peace because Jesus Christ brought peace to the world.
Ndume urged politicians, family members, those in government and other Nigerians to embrace peace, especially as the 2015 elections approach.
“Nigeria belongs to everyone and so we should all pursue peace and embrace it,’’ he added. (NAN)
