ILE-IFE(OSUN) – Mr Matthew Ajagono, the Assistant Controller of Prisons in-charge Ile-Ife Prison, in Osun, has called on stakeholders, philanthropists and groups to assist the station to reform the inmates.
Ajagono made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ile-Ife on Thursday.
He said the gesture could be moral or financial to enhance the efforts of prison authorities to give the inmates quality education to make them better citizens.
Ajagono said, “It is a thing of joy to inform you about the brilliant performance of one of our inmates who sat for and passed the 2014 Senior Secondary School National Examinations Council, (NECO).
“The inmate scored seven credits in NECO and 213 marks in the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board examinations. “
He called on philanthropists and groups to assist in refurbishing a bus donated to the station by the state government in 2007.

“A sum of N350, 000 can conveniently put the grounded vehicle back on the road to reduce the logistics problem which this station is experiencing at present,” Ajagono said.
He also called for assistance toward the renovation of the roof of the kitchen and the purchase of a generator for the prison.
Ajagono urged philanthropists to see the prison as a place where they could use their resources to assist inmates.
He said although government had been trying its best to ensure the welfare of inmates, it could not do it alone. (NAN)
