Renowned legal expert and human rights advocate, Prof. Mike Ozekhome, SAN, was celebrated in grand style on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, as he received the Defender of Democracy Award at the Midwest Herald Achievers Award ceremony in Benin City, Edo State.
The event, themed “Legends and Heroes,” was marked by elegance and prestige.
During the ceremony, Ozekhome delivered a keynote speech titled “Has Democracy Led to Good Governance in Nigeria?” His thought-provoking address added depth to the occasion, which recognized individuals for their contributions to society.
Ozekhome received his award alongside other distinguished personalities and event organizers. Among those present were Prince Clement Agba, former Minister of State for Budgetary Matters; HRM Oba Domun Thompson Gureje IV, the Oloni of Eti-Oni in Osun State, and his wife, Queen Angelique-Monet Gureje Thompson. Also in attendance were Midwest Herald publisher and veteran journalist Orobosa Omo-Ojo, along with his daughter, Dr. Owen Omo-Ojo, who also serves as the Director of Organization for the Midwest Achievers Award.
