IBADAN (SUNDIATA POST)- The Bishop of Ibadan Anglican Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Akinfenwa, on Friday urged Nigerians to profess God with genuine hearts to go higher in life.

Akinfenwa gave the advice at the 2024 Jesus Festival Fund Raising Dinner, organised by the Diocese, with the theme: “I am Going Higher.”

He advised Nigerians to desist from outward religious practices that were void of righteousness and cling to God with a genuine repentant heart.

Akinfenwa also enjoined the congregation not to only profess God with their mouths but with the right hearts.

“Righteousness is what we need in a such a time that we need God’s intervention in our country, because righteousness exalts a nation while sin is a reproach.

“We need to increase our prayers and maintain good relationships with the Lord Jesus Christ to live victoriously in this present time.

“Let us live a life of total obedience to God because without obedience, there cannot be an experience of a higher place,” he said.

He urged Nigerians never to relent in doing God’s work and contributing to Kingdom projects because they would never lose their rewards.

“All hands must be on deck to do God’s work fast because He will soon return, make God happy in this year by serving Him better and contributing to His work.

“Those who put God first can never be last, the Diocese through your contributions invested more in mission works, planting of churches, training/funding of more clergy men and lots more.

“So, let’s not be weary in our contributions to move God’s work further,” he said.

Akinfenwa noted that Jesus festival dinner was an annual event when brethren come together, fellowship, relax, share significant successes and ways to make more progress.

The Dinner Chairman and Deputy Chancellor, Ibadan Anglican Diocese, Chief Mobolaji Ayorinde (SAN), emphasised the need for parents to lay a godly legacy for their children to follow.

Ayorinde urged the members to continue to support God’s work especially in the diocese.

“Let us do what and all we can to move the work of God forward, with God, one can never be short- changed because He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him,” he said. (NAN)
