Lagos – Boboye Oyeniyan, a professional table tennis player with G.D Toledos Club of Portugal on Wednesday described his contract with the club as “worthwhile”.

Oyeniyan, who joined his new last November, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) from his base Portugal base that he was delighted at being signed on by the club.

“It was not easy for me initially, It took me a long time to get familiar with the weather.

“The beginning of my career here was tough but later I got used to the challenges. The weather and many other issues had adversely affected my output.

“After awhile I overcame my challenges and started doing well in my games. My relocation has no doubt impacted on every aspect of my technique. I aspired to be a better player and I am better than I was before leaving Nigeria.

“I had always wanted to play in trade in Europe and this is my first professional contract,” he said.

Oyeniyan added that playing with the best in Portugal had sharpened his skills.

“I had no choice than to buck up because I hate defeat. The best players here in my club and others from other clubs propped me to improve in the league; that has made me a better player,” he said.

Africa’s current number one table tennis player, Quadri Aruna was formerly with the club last season. (NAN)
