ADO-EKITI (SUNDIATA POST)- The Chairman, Governing Board of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, Chief Kayode Ojo, has commended Ekiti residents for the matured manner in which they are handling the nationwide protest.
The commendation is contained in a statement issued by his Media Aide, Deji Aiyelabowo and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.
Ojo, a former governorship aspirant in the state also commended Ekiti residents for heeding the plea of President Bola Tinubu-led administration for not embarking on destructive protest capable of affecting the country’s economic emancipation and development.
He applauded the people for understanding the efforts of the President to set Nigeria on the path of progress and economic recovery.
According to him, no doubt, times are tough as a result of the unavoidable decisions of the government which are aimed at restoring the nation’s lost glory.
He said that the people needed to see a greater and better Nigeria by exercising more patience for the decisions of government to achieve the set goals.
Ojo stated that protesting peacefully against some decisions of government was a constitutional right of the citizenry.
He, however, reminded the people that destruction of public assets could not achieve the objective of building a country of our dream but would rather plung the nation into unnecessary economic mess.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart urged all Nigerians irrespective of their states of residence to embrace peace and emulate the Ekiti example for Nigeria to attain greatness. (NAN)
