The organizers of the recent nationwide hunger protests have announced that the demonstrations will resume on October 1.
The protests, which initially took place from August 1 to 10, were driven by the rising cost of living in the country.
Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and a key figure in organizing the protests, made the announcement during an interview on News Central TV. He mentioned that the organizers have been holding meetings to plan the next phase of the protests.
Sowore stated, “This protest will resume at the beginning of October and might even start earlier depending on situational variables.”
The organizers are demanding the reinstatement of fuel subsidies, an increase in the minimum wage to N250,000, the release of Nnamdi Kanu, and the adoption of a new constitution.
Despite President Bola Tinubu’s call to end the protests, the organizers have vowed to continue, dismissing his speech as unconvincing.
