Bauchi – Isa Matori, Chairman of Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi, has urged the club’s players not to be discouraged by last Wednesday’s home 0-0 draw with Heartland FC of Owerri.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the draw at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi was on MatchDay 2 of the 2015/2016 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Wikki Tourists’ fans had left for home disappointed, leading to club Chief Coach Abdu Maikaba apologising to their fans during a post-match press conference.
In a statement on Friday in Bauchi signed by Abbas Shehu, the club’s Media Officer, Matori urged the players and technical crew to put the “ugly event’’ behind them.
“As professionals, you should know that this is a normal development in football and you should also know that last weekend you beat El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri in your away match in Katsina.
“We should be grateful to God that we did not completely lose the match’s points and we were not disgraced because you guys played very well to the admiration of the spectators,” he said.
Matori then urged the team to be focused ahead of their next away match, which is against Kano Pillars FC on Sunday at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
