Abuja-  The Inter-Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC) said it would embark on a nationwide road-show to urge registered voters to collect their Permanent Voter’s Card before the general elections in February.

This is contained in a statement signed by Chief Godson Okoye, National Publicity Secretary of IPAC, an umbrella body of all registered political parties in Nigeria, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Okoye said that the enlightenment, which would be conducted in conjunction with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the six geo-political zones in the country, would begin on Jan. 10.

He said that the show would commence at the Garki II Model Market in the Federal Capital Territory, and urged all political parties to participate in the exercise, which was part of efforts at strengthening democracy in the country.

He advised registered voters who had not collected the permanent voter’s card to go to INEC office in their respective local government area to collect the card.

Describing the upcoming elections, especially the presidential polls, as “defining moment for the country”, Okoye urged political parties to abide by electoral regulations.

“The hitches experienced in previous general elections since 1999 reinforce our commitment to the improvement of our nation’s electoral process.

“We are optimistic that the forthcoming polls will be transparent, and we urge political parties to support INEC in carrying out this national duty to deepen and strengthen our emerging democracy’’, he said. (NAN)
