JALINGO – The Director, National Orientation Agency (NOA) in Taraba, Dr Robert Gulkawi, on Saturday described the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) as a “weapon” for the electorate to vote non-performing public office holders out of office.
Gulkawi, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jalingo, urged the electorate to use the card to “wisely vote” for reputable candidates who would usher in development for the people.
“Ignore politicians who do not touch the lives of the common man. With the PVC, you have the power to stop any of them from going back to office if he under-performs,” he said.
He urged adults of 18 years and above to ensure that they obtained the voter card, saying that failure to do so would disenfranchise them during the 2015 general elections.
He also called on parents to ensure that their children and wards were not used by politicians as political thugs.
“Do not allow your children to be used by desperate politicians to incite violence.
“Children of such politicians are always kept in safety zones while those of the poor are the ones being arrested and prosecuted,” Gulkawi said. (NAN)
