Lagos – One of the nation’s renowned actors, Ramsey Noah, on Thursday decried the dearth of cinema houses in the nation.
Noah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that this had retarded the growth of the movie industry.
Noah said that the prevailing situation was contrary to the provision in the Nigerian constitution that prescribed one cinema house in each local government area.
Noah said that this had contributed to the level of poverty and unemployment which has made it impossible for the entertainment sector to thrive.
He said that cinema houses should be built to address societal ills and boost the nation’s economy.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“When we have a cinema house in each of the 774 local government areas in the country, a good number of Nigerians will no longer battle with unemployment.
“Poverty will equally be a thing of the past and the entertainment industry will experience dramatic improvement.
“Every local government must have a viewing centre as stated in the constitution to further boost the entertainment industry. (NAN)
