Enugu – Rangers International FC of Enugu now trains under floodlight for its encounter with Nasarawa United billed for 7 p.m. in Enugu on Friday.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, the club’s General Manager, Paul Chibuzo, said that everything had been put in place to ensure a free-flow encounter.
“Playing under the floodlight is one of the requirements of the League Management Company (LMC) which most clubs had done and now it is our turn.
“We have taken steps to arrange and prepare ourselves, including the players. We have stationed our two standby generators and also met with the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company to provide electricity on that day.
“Rangers has been practicing under the floodlight to ensure that the players get acquainted with it.
“Most of the players had played under floodlight but generally we want to avoid any lapses in that match against Nasarawa Utd because the time,” he said.
He expressed happiness with the positive turn-around in the club, saying that everything was made possible by God.
“Our position on the league table is God’s doing and He has sustained us till this day, coupled with the determination and commitment of the players and the technical crew. We are going to finish the league on top,” he said.
Chibuzo said that the team’s breakdown in the third quarter of the league last season after its FA Cup semi-final loss to Lobi Stars would not repeat itself.
“We now camp the players where they are happy. Beside, as a member of the LMC board, I ensure that we get necessary information on time and I communicate it to the players.
“We should have won that FA Cup semi-final against Lobi Stars last season but we lost the match to fatigue and that is why we had massive recruitment this season to rotate our players.
“The Rangers management has an incentive for the players but that will be communicated to them before the match against Nasarawa Utd.
“Once we get the points and keep wining our home matches, the sky will be our limit. This crop of players will be retained for the second stanza of the league with a few injections,” he added.
