ABUJA – The Triumphant Glory football team on Saturday in Abuja emerged champions of the maiden edition of the youth football competition tagged “Pastor-in-charge of Province (PICP) Challenge Cup’’.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Triumphant Glory defeated Winners Zone football team 3-0 in the final match played at the Africa International College pitch.
The competition was organised by the FCT Province 4 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
Erim Etaba opened scores in the 18th minute of the game, before Musa Dan doubled the tally in the 29th minute through a powerful header.
Winners fought back, but could not convert their scoring chances into goal till the end of the first half.
At the resumption of the second half, both teams played a better game, with mother luck appearing to be simply against the Winners team.

Nasiru Tijani put the game beyond the reach of their opponents with the match’s third goal in 86th minute of the game with a good shot from outside the penalty box.
Coach Emmanuel Hussani of Triumphant Glory said he was happy that his team won the competition, adding that they would also win the next edition.
“I am happy that we won. But it was a tough game, and I thank God we came out successful. However, it was also good that my boys played to instructions.
“In the next edition, we will play better than this to win,’’ he said.
Coach Idehen Monday of Winners team, on his part, said he viewed the match as a good game.
“In football there is always a winner and a loser, and we were unfortunate that luck was against us.
“Now, I will go back to my drawing board to correct our mistakes against the next edition,’’ he said.
NAN reports that the competition had began on May 23 with 14 teams representing 14 zones registered to play in a knockout format.
The zones include Winners, Kings Court, Sanctuary of Mercy, Mercy Seat, Maranatha, Suncity, Power and Glory.
The rest are Victory, Peniel, Throne of Mercy, Sanctuary of Praise, Chapel of Life, Triumphant Glory and Great Grace Zone.(NAN)
