Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was left fuming after his side threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 4-2 against La Liga opponents Real Sociedad on Sunday night.
It seemed like plain sailing for the visitors, who were two goals to the good thanks to Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale. Yet the hosts drew themselves level before the half-time interval as Íñigo Martínez and Zurutuza scored to set up an entertaining second half.
Zurutuza scored his second of the night on 65 minutes, before former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela buried his shot ten minutes later to condemn Los Blancos to an embarrassing 4-3 defeat, leaving manager Carlo Ancelotti furious.
“It is a defeat that I don’t like at all,” the Italian coach said after the game.[eap_ad_2]
“Sometimes you can have a bad match but a team like Real Madrid, when they are winning 2-0, have to keep concentrating and maintain their attitude to win the match. We didn’t do that, I am responsible and we’ll do something to change.
“We had no balance in the last hour. We did not have a good defensive system. When we scored the second we were a little bit weak and defended badly.”
The Galacticos’ defeat allowed rivals Barcelona to summit the standings after just two matches as they struggled to a narrow 1-0 victory over Villarreal, substitute Sandro Ramírez scoring the solitary goal with eight minutes left on the clock.
Following their opening day draw, defending champions Atletico Madrid got their campaign back on track with a 2-1 win over Eibar, as Miranda and new-signing Mario Madzukic’s first half strikes ensured Diego Simeone’s men secured maximum points at the Vicente Calderon.[eap_ad_3]
