Redeem campaign promise, Deaf people urges Gov. Jibrilla

Yola –  The Adamawa Chairman of Deaf Awareness Group (DAG), Malam Liman Adamu, has appealed to Gov. Muhammadu Jibrilla, to honour his campaign promise to the group.
Adamu made the call on Tuesday in an interview with newsmen in Yola.
According to Adamu, members of the group, numbering over about 7,000, had participated actively in the governor’s campaign during which Jibrilla promised to carry them along, if he elected.
“We mobilised money and printed campaign posters and T-shirts as well as followed the governor’s campaign team round the state.
“He assured us that if he won, we will be carried along, but more than one year now we are still waiting,” Adamu said.
Adamu, who claimed to had once worked with the governor as Adviser on Disabled Matters when the governor was a senator, lamented that all efforts by him to reach out to the governor at Government House were blocked by security.
“All my attempts to reach the governor was blocked by security men at the gate of Government House,” said the chairman.
Adamu said his members are demanding for inclusion in government empowerment programmes and sponsorship to special schools. (NAN)
