Kano – The Kano State House of Assembly on Tuesday called on the police to bring to an end the increasing cases of kidnapping in the state.
The Speaker of the assembly, Alhaji Kabiru Rurum made the call when the newly posted Commissioner of Police in Kano, Maigari Dikko, paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
According to the speaker, the issue of kidnapping is becoming rampant across the state, as such the police must redouble efforts to safeguard lives and property of residents.
“We appreciate your effort towards ending the issue of insurgency and cattle rustling in the state.
“Therefore, we believe you can redouble efforts to also end the cases of kidnapping and child abuse in the state.”
Rurum pledged the assembly’s support to the police and other security agencies in bringing to an end, all forms of criminal activities in Kano state.
Earlier, the police commissioner said the visit was to seek for greater collaboration with the legislature towards promoting a crime-free society.
Dikko assured that the police would do everything within its powers to overcome issues of kidnapping, child abuse, illicit drug use and other crimes in the state.(NAN)
