Berlin – German police said on Tuesday that suspected arsonists burnt to the ground a gym near Berlin that was to be a future home for refugees.
No one was injured in the overnight blaze in the town of Nauen, some 40 kilometres west of Berlin, they said.
The gym was to begin housing some 100 asylum seekers in September.

There have been several anti-refugee demonstrations in Nauen.
In February, a local council meeting was disrupted by right-wing protesters.
There have been multiple attacks on refugee shelters across Germany, where anti-immigrant sentiment has come to the fore as the country hosts an unprecedented influx of asylum seekers. (dpa/NAN)
