Abeokuta – The Ogun Government, on Monday, in Abeokuta, pledged unflinching support for the Federal Government’s regional economic and business integration agenda to enhance economic development.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Mr Bimbo Ashiru, made this disclosure while receiving a delegation of the Agency for Promotion and Exportation from the Republic of Benin.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the agency’s Deputy Director-General, Mr Koukponou Gaetan led the delegation.
According to Ashiru, Ogun is the industrial hub of the country and also the gateway to international market.
He said that the state would also continue to establish ties with neighbouring countries in line with international protocols.
The commissioner said that exportation of goods remained imperative to revenue generation, adding however that exporting nations should first satisfy the internal needs of their people.
“Before we think of exporting our products to the outside world, we must first satisfy our internal and regional needs,’’ he said.
Also speaking, the leader of the team stressed the need for more collaboration between Benin Republic and Ogun.
According to Gaetan, such collaboration will not only improve trade relations but enhance bilateral relationship between his country and the state. (NAN)
