Akwanga (Nasarawa State) – Rep. Jeremiah Umaru (APC-Akwanga/Nasarawa-Eggon/Wamba) in the House of Representatives has donated fertilisers and knapsack sprayer to 1,000 farmers in his constituency.
Umaru, while distributing the items on Friday in Akwanga Local Government Area, said the gesture was part of efforts to ameliorate the plight of farmers in his constituency.
He said that the 35 electoral wards of the constituency would get 20 bags of fertilisers and 20 knapsack sprayers each.
The lawmaker pointed out that one widow each were selected from all the electoral wards to benefit from the farm inputs.
He added that other farmer stakeholders, including traditional rulers from the constituency were also considered for the gesture.
He restated his commitment to deliver quality representation at the National Assembly and do his best to improve on the living condition of his constituents.
Umaru recalled that he recently distributed 300 KVA transformers to three communities and installed 100 solar-powered street lights in the area.
“I have designed a comprehensive blueprint to tackle the numerous challenges confronting the people of my constituency.
“The blueprint will address the issue of electricity , empower the youths and women, empower farmers to ensure food security, and promote sporting activities among others,” Umaru said.
The lawmaker further said that he had sponsored six bills; all passed first reading as well as one motion in the House of Representatives to attract federal government presence to his constituency.
He promised to carry all his constituents along as their representative, irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political party affiliations.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the ‘Chun Mada’ Samson Gamuyare, Chairman Traditional Council of Akwanga LGA, thanked the lawmaker for the gesture.
The royal father advised the beneficiaries to use the items judiciously to enhance their productivity and ensure food security in the state.
Earlier, Mr. Aliyu Barde, acting State Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) lauded the lawmaker for his efforts in just few months in office.
The APC chairman said the lawmaker was making the party proud and advised him to sustain the performance throughout his tenure.
