Buni-Yadi (Yobe State) – National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Thursday organised peace interactive forum for returnee communities in Gujba Local Government Area in Yobe to facilitate reconstruction and rehabilitation of the communities.
The NOA Director-General, Dr Garba Abari, while declaring the forum open, urged the communities to guard and protect the peace and security regained in the communities.
Abari, who was represented by Alhaji Wakil Kaku, the state’s NOA Director, said the communities should be guided by societal norms, ethics and national values to rebuild peaceful communities.
He urged the communities to collectively work for peace, encourage peaceful coexistence and condemn acts capable of disrupting the peace.
Malam Adamu Saleh, NOA’s Assistant Director, Administration, who represented the state’s Director, Alhaji Wakil Kaku, called on the communities to cooperate with security operatives in their areas to promote the peace and security achieved.
The director said religious, opinion and traditional leaders had great roles to play in resettlement, reconstruction and rehabilitation of communities.
He urged parents to monitor activities of their children to ensure that they did not become agents of vices.
Alhaji Kyari Batarama, the Chairman, Gujba Local Government Council, urged the people to be vigilant and monitor suspicious persons and movements in their communities. (NAN)
