Abuja – Rev. Tor Uja, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), says Nigerians should see the good things Police are doing and appreciate their good efforts.
Uja said this when he received a delegation of Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in his office in Abuja on Friday.
According to him, nobody really sees anything good that the police are doing, nobody praises the police for their sacrificial efforts.
“We need to support the police knowing that they put their lives daily in trying to protect Nigerians and to ensure peace and security.
“That thinking about our police needs to change, we need to be positive about our police, they need to be given a better deal,’’ he said.
Uja, however, advised POWA to devout more attention to prayer for the Nigeria Police Force, saddled with the responsibility of security of lives and property.
On empowerment, Uja urged the Federal Government to empower women to the tune of N1 million each so as to boost their legitimate businesses.
According to him, women are the bedrock of every society and being productive, women will do better if given the right opportunity to serve the nation.
“God has raised women to move every nation forward.
“God has given them confidence and endowed them with the ability to move the nation to its right position politically, economically, socially and spiritually.
“If we invest in women Nigeria will grow faster; a lot of agricultural work is been supported by women. Women produce 70 per cent of the food we eat in this country.
“Every Nigerian woman that has a capacity should be given a minimum of N1 million to invest in what she thinks is good enough.
“I believe that God has raised women to be a help not just to their individual husbands but also to the society that must go forward,’’ he said.
Earlier, Hajiya Hauwa Sadiq, President of POWA, Wife of the FCT Commissioner of Police, appreciated Uja for moving the commission to its present state and lauded his transparency in running the commission.
Sadiq explained that POWA’s visit was to identify with the success recorded and to also partner with the commission to see how women could be carried along in pilgrimage.
She commended the NCPC boss for the successes recorded by the commission in lifting pilgrims to the State of Israel and other Holy sites. (NAN)
