Sokoto – Alhaji Ahmed Anka, Managing Director of Sokoto Rima Basin Development Authority (SRRBDA) said on Thursday about N1.2 billion would be spent to construct over 70 boreholes in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara.
Anka told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the projects would be executed with support by members of the House of Representatives from various constituencies in the states.
He said that 46 bore holes would be constructed in Sokoto State while Kebbi and Zamfara would have 12 each to boost irrigation farming.
He explained that 27 various contractors were handling the projects to ensure their speedy execution.
He said the legislators facilitated the projects to create job opportunities through irrigation farming system.

Anka explained that already, the Federal Government, in collaboration with the World Bank, had begun rehabilitation of Bakolori and Goronyo Dams in Zamfara and Sokoto states,respectively .
He said that the projects, if completed, would boost irrigation farming.
“Bakolori Dam will provide irrigation services for farmers in Sokoto and Zamfara states.”
He said the dam would provide irrigation services to cover 15,000 hectares while Goronyo Dam would offer similar services to cover 4,000 hectares. (NAN )
