IBADAN – Mr Godwin Ogagaoghene, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), says 18 persons died in 19 road accidents in the state in April.
Ogagaoghene spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Ibadan.
He said that the victims comprised six females and 12 males.
The sector commander said 97 persons, made up of 70 men, 24 women and three children, also sustained different degrees of injury.
According to him, the commission will not relent in its efforts at apprehending traffic offenders, noting that 2,256 of them were arrested in April.
He said that 968 motorcycle riders were arrested for riding without helmets and 409 motorists were arrested for driving without the use of seat belts.
Ogagaoghene advised motorists to obey traffic rules and avoid speeding. (NAN)
