Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Rotary Club Abuja CBD on Saturday, 17th September 2022 performed the ground breaking ceremony for the club’s star project of constructing blocks of classrooms, Headteacher’s office and three toilets at Central Primary School, Gidan Gimba, Karu, Nasarawa State.

The Club’s President, Rotarian Max Amuchie in his opening remarks during the ceremony, said that every year, Rotary Club members visit the community for one intervention or another. In one of those visitations, they discovered that Gidan Gimba needs classrooms because only a block is standing and we know that the pupils will be suffocating with just Two classrooms. Given that Rotary is an organisation that lays so much emphasis on education at the basic level.

According to the Synergy President, Rotary believes that when you are given quality education at the primary level, it gives the child good opportunity to advance further in life. So there is so much emphasis on quality education at basic level and that is one of the cornerstones of Rotary Club. And when we came here and saw this, we decided to activate the mandate of Rotary to ensure that we provide the children of this community accommodation for them to have their education so that they can develop and be able to compete with other children.

The President reminded the community that whatever money that is being expended in funding the project is not from government but from members of the club despite that they have their own personal problems. He therefore enjoined the community to take care of the project once it is completed.

Rotarian Max who promised on behalf of the Club that he will ensure that the project is completed, called on the community to get available the water that will be used to execute the project as the Club will not spend money to buy water.

He thanked the Chief and the entire community for the warm reception accorded them and conveyed the good will message of the Club to the community.

Rotarian Lawrence, who represented the Special guest of Honour and the District Governor, Rotarian Goddy Nnady, reminded that Rotary Club is not a government organisation. It is funded by individuals who contribute from their pocket to meet the needs of others. So it’s expected that the community will reciprocate by making sure that whatever is given to the community will be taken care of property.

In his remarks., the Chief Host, Paramount Ruler of Gidan Gimba, Chief Danjuma Audu thanked the club members for their efforts in providing facilities to both the community and now the school. He prayed God to bless and reward the Rotary members and their families.
