Moscow-Russia goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev says he is feeling fine after being hit by flare in the first minute of a Euro 2016 qualifier in Montenegro which was later abandoned.
Akinfeev, in a statement issued by the Russian federation, thanked all who supported him and said “I feel fine now.”
He was taken to hospital with what turned out to be minor burns, and according to the statement was on his way back to Russia on Saturday.

“Unfortunately these things happen sometimes in football. But I hope that something like this never happens again in Montenegro or any other country in the world,’’ he said.
The match continued after a 35-minute break but was abandoned in the 67th minute after further trouble on and off the pitch with the score 0-0.
Russia now want to be declared winners by forfeiture. (dpa.NAN)
