TEHRAN (Sundiata Post) – Russia said it is ready to support Iran in addressing issues related to its nuclear programme, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Iranian news agency IRNA on Tuesday.
“Moscow sees its good relations and partnership with Iran as highly important and wants to strengthen them across all areas.
“Iran support includes providing support in dealing with such important matters as the nuclear programme,’’ Peskov said.
He added that diplomatic efforts remained the preferred approach for addressing international concerns related to Iran’s nuclear research, provided that all involved parties demonstrate the necessary political will.
In 2015, the United Kingdom (UK), Germany, China, Russia, the United States (U.S.), France and Iran reached a nuclear deal.
This would offer Iran sanctions relief in exchange for curbs on its nuclear programme.
U.S. President Donald Trump pulled the U.S. from the pact in 2018 and reinstated sanctions on Tehran.
In response, Iran announced a gradual reduction in its nuclear commitments, including on uranium enrichment. (NAN)
