Sales executive in court over alleged theft of N1.8M

LAGOS – A 39-year-old sales executive, Adebola Sunday, who allegedly stole N1.8million belonging to his employer, was on Wednesday dragged before an Abule Egba Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, who lives at 46, Aje St., Pleasure Bus Stop, Abule Egba Road, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Racheal Williams, told the court that the offence was committed between April to December, 2013 at Charity Road, Abule Egba.
According to the prosecution, the N1.8 million was found missing after the auditing the company’s account and the accused, being the sales executive, could not account for it.
“The complainant, one Mrs Modupe Onibanjo, reported the case at the police station after the accused failed to produce the money,” she said.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravenes Section 285(8) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias granted the accused bail in the sum of N2million with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered the accused to deposit N300,000 to the registrar’s account, as part of the bail condition and adjourned the case to Jan. 26 for mention. (NAN)
