Sales Girl Docked For Alleged Theft

Abuja, – An 18-year-old Sales girl, Grace Christopher, was on Friday, arraigned, before a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing N350, 000 from her employer.
Christopher, who resides at Idu Court, Abuja, is standing trial for theft.
The prosecution council, Stanley Nwafoaku, told the court that on Dec.11 2022, at about 6:00 p.m., Ms Favour John of Jabi, Abuja, reported the matter at Life Camp Police Station.
Nwafoaku alleged that on Nov. 4, 2022, the complainant gave the key to her room to the defendant to clean up the room and after she left, the complainant discovered that her money was missing.
The prosecution council said that the defendant opened the complainant’s wardrobe, broke into her save and stole N350, 000.
The prosecution council said the offence contravened section 289 of the penal code law.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The presiding judge, Muhammed Wakili, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Wakili ordered that the surety must be reliable with means of livelihood and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court.
He added that the surety must also provide a BVN print out, recent passport photograph and a valid identification card, which must be verified by the court registrar.
The judge adjourned the matter until Feb.15, for hearing. (NAN)
