ABUJA – The police on Friday arraigned a 28-year-old sales man, Femi Olubode, in a Kado Upper Area Court for misappropriating N849, 000 belonging to his employer.
Oubode, who resides in Durumi Village, Abuja, is charged with criminal misappropriation and cheating.
The prosecutor, Simon Ibrahim, told the court that Jonathan Fidelis of Suite No. 3 Busy Mart Plaza, Jabi, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station, Abuja, on April 25.
Ibrahim said Fidelis entrusted his mobile phone recharge cards worth N849, 000 with the accused to sell and pay the money into his business account but he did not.
He said the accused sold all the recharge cards and diverted the money to his personal use, an offence which contravened the provisions of sections 309 and 322 of the Penal Code.
If convicted the convict is liable to five years imprisonment or an option of fine or both.
The presiding judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum.
Sadiq said the surety must have a fixed address and must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the matter until May 21 for hearing. (NAN)
