Minna – The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger has deployed 1, 550 of its personnel to provide security during and after the Eid-El Kabir in the state .
Mr Philip Ayuba, the Corps Commandant in the state, disclosed this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Tuesday.
According to him, the officers will take care of the security at the praying grounds in the 25 local government areas of the state.
“ We have already commenced a 24-hour patrol daily in and around the metropolis to pave way for peaceful conduct during Sallah in Niger’’, he said.
He said that the corps had identified all the major black spots in the state for close monitoring and surveillance.
“We have also deployed undercover officers from the corps to motor parks, recreation centres and amusement parks to check the influx of miscreants into the state.
“We are also battle ready to confront any form of security threats during and after the celebrations, ’’ he said.
He warned all miscreants to stay away from the state as security agencies would be on ground to provide adequate security throughout the celebration.
Ayuba also urged parents to monitor their children so that they would not engage in any anti-social activities.
He warned that anyone caught would be handed over to the law enforcement agencies for punishment.
He advised officers and men of the command to demonstrate a high sense of professional conduct to pave way for peaceful conduct of the sallah.
