ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – A Senior Legislative Aide in the office of the President of the Senate, Mr. Elijah Etta has tendered an unreserved apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, GCON and the personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS) attached to the Office of the Senate President over false allegations of diversion of Sallah and Easter package.
Etta, who is also the Chairman of the Forum of Legislative Aides to the President of the Senate, in an apology letter dated April 10, 2025 and addressed to the Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate titled “Apology on the unsubstantiated allegation of diversion of Sallah/Easter package from the President of the Senate by the DSS attached to the President of the Senate”, said he has since realized that he did not carry out due diligence and regret the damage caused by his allegations.
The apology letter reads, “I, Mr Elijah Etta, a Senior Legislative Aide in the office of the President of the Senate, do voluntarily write at the instance of my earlier unfounded, and malicious publication directed at the authority of the office of the President of the Senate and particularly against the dutiful and professionally disciplined personnel of the Department of State Services(DSS) attached to the person and office of the President of the Senate.
“I regret that, I did not take any necessary steps to establish the veracity of my imagination nor exhaust any of the administrative procedures before writing the offensive petition and circulating the same beyond the office of the President of the Senate.
“I have since realised the harm and embarrassment this scandal originated and authored by me has caused the office of the President of the Senate and particularly the Department of State Services (DSS) personnel attached to the person and office of the President of the Senate.
“Furthermore, this apology is without reservations, and serves to withdraw in all material circumstances the intent and purposes of the unsubstantiated mongering,and an undertaking to be of future good behaviour and positive team spirit.
“This apology and undertaking are made without duress”, the letter stated.
