Saudi Arabia has introduced a new visa rule that restricts travelers from 14 countries, including Nigeria, to single-entry visas only. These visas will be valid for 30 days and cannot be extended.
The policy applies to tourists, business visitors, and family visit travelers from Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen. However, it does not affect Hajj, Umrah, diplomatic, or residency visas.
Authorities explained that the decision was made due to visa misuse, where some visitors overstayed their permits or attempted to join the Hajj pilgrimage without authorization.
Saudi Arabia strictly regulates Hajj participation to control crowding. In 2024, over 1,200 pilgrims died due to extreme heat and congestion, making proper crowd management a priority.
Officials described the change as a temporary measure but have not provided a specific timeline for review.
Travelers from the affected countries are advised to apply early and follow the new visa rules to avoid any issues. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also urged people to stay updated through official sources.
