Saudi organization to conduct free open heart surgeries in Sokoto — Sen. Wamakko

Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto) has announced the arrival of a team of medical experts from the International Organization for Relief, Welfare and Development (IORWD), in on Oct. 8, to conduct free open heart surgeries in Sokoto.

Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant to Wamakko on Media, quoted the senator as saying this in a statement he issued in Abuja, on Wednesday, while identifying the organization as a division of the Muslim World League, based in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

The statement said that the 24-man team consists of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Theatre Nurses, Intensive Care Doctors and Nurses, as well as Anaesthesiologists and Anaesthetic Nurses, among others, who are of different nationalities, including Saudis, Filipinos, Polish, Malaysians, Egyptians and Syrians.

“The team will arrive on Oct. 8 and head to Sokoto same day to commence the free open heart surgery programme.

” This invaluable gesture facilitated by Sen. Wamakko, who represents Sokoto North Senatorial District, and a former of the state”, the statement added.

IORWD is also a member of the Economic and Council of the Nations (ECOSOC), according to the statement.
