Abuja – A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old man, Kabiru Musa, to two months in prison for attempted theft.
Musa, a resident of Karu Village, Abuja, pleaded guilty to the charge and begged for leniency.
Senior Magistrate Binta Dongoyaro, however, gave Musa an option to pay N10,000 fine.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Simon Emmanuel, had told the court that on Oct. 13, the convict allegedly broke into the complainant’s apartment with the intent to steal his property.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
Emmanuel said that luck ran out of the accused as the complainant’s roommate, Rejoice Njoku, came into the apartment, saw broken windows and doors, and raised an alarm.
“Njoku’s alarm attracted neighbours who apprehended the convict and took him to the Karu Police Station,’’ he said.
Emmanuel told the court that the convict admit committing the crime, attributing it to “the devil’s work’’.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 95 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
