ABUJA – In an effort to check the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak, schools that run entrepreneurship programme in the FCT would start the production of liquid soaps by December 2014.
Mallam Kabir Usman, the FCT Secretary for Education, said this in Abuja on Friday during an interview with newsmen on the sideline of a sensitisation training for FCT teachers and school nurses on the disease.
He said the children would be trained on how to produce the liquid soap, to encourage continuity in hand washing practice in all schools.
“We have enough liquid soaps for our schools till the end of this term,; this is going to be continuous because we put a process in motion for the production of liquid soaps.[eap_ad_2]
“By next year, our children will be providing liquid soaps for the schools because we have an entrepreneurship programme in some of our schools.
“For instance, the supply of chalks for most schools in FCT, they normally buy from the schools that manufacture chalks.
“So now, for the liquid soap, we want to make sure that we train our own children to be producing it,’’ Usman said.
He said it would also generate money for such schools and make the children to grow with the habit of washing their hands always. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
