In a brazen daylight assault, numerous passengers were reportedly abducted by bandits in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The attack unfolded on Thursday when the criminals intercepted an eighteen-seater bus, bearing the registration number (14B-300-KT), operated by the Katsina State Transport Authority and packed with commuters traveling from Funtua LGA to Katsina LGA.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with this publication via phone, the majority of the passengers were en route from Funtua to Katsina when the incident occurred. Although official statements from authorities are pending, the eyewitness revealed that the abduction transpired between the Burdugau and Yargoje communities, just before reaching Kankara town.
Kankara, situated in the Katsina South region, is among the frontline areas where both residents and travelers endure heightened apprehension due to the persistent threat of bandit attacks.
