Dutse – Malam Murtala Aliyu, the Education Secretary of Buji Local Government Area of Jigawa, has commended the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) for providing furniture to Schools in the council area.
The Information Officer of the council, Alhaji Ali Safiyanu, disclosed this on Friday in Dutse in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Safiyanu said that Aliyu gave the commendation when he received over 50 seats from the board in Buji on Thursday.
He stated that the education secretary distributed the seats to junior secondary and primary schools in the area.
Safiyanu listed the schools as Sadu and Madabe Junior secondary schools; and Buji, Gwadayi and Madabe primary schools.
He noted that the gesture was part of the state government’s efforts to revive education in the council.
In another development, the information officer said the council’s branch of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT) has constructed two additional rooms at the NUT House in the area.
He said the union’s chairman in the area, Malam Auwal Sabo, noted that the gesture was to provide temporary accommodation to teachers posted to the area. (NAN)
