Abuja (Sundiata Post) – As hunger protest tagged “EndBadGovernance” rages all over the country, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has alleged that security operatives have identified a Senator as one of the sponsors.

Wike disclosed this shortly after an emergency FCT Security Council meeting on Thursday in Abuja.

The Minister on Thursday evening summoned the emergency security meeting, apparently to review activities of the #EndBadGovernance protesters on the first day of the nationwide protests.

Wike had earlier in the day commended the protesters for being nonviolent.

However, reports of violence emerged later in the evening when some elements took over the ever-busy Murtala Muhammed (Kubwa) Expressway, setting bonfires, erecting blockades and extorting motorists.

The government had done all within its power to stop today’s protest from holding, but citizens were undeterred as they voiced out that the hunger in the country, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy on May 29th 2023 has become unbearable.

Activities in most parts of the country were shot down on the first day of the protest.

However, in most of the States, the protest was peaceful except for the core northern States where it turned violent, our correspondent reports.
