Kano – A vigilance group, Operation Zaman Lafiya Development Association in Kano State, has solicited the support of the state government on logistics to enable it to contribute to maintenance of peace in the area.
The Secretary-General of the association, Malam Usmaniyya Umar, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Wednesday.
Umar said the call was informed by the group’s desire to complement the efforts of security agencies in curbing the spate of crimes in the state.
He said the initiative was conceived to rid Unguwa Uku Community of criminals.

He said the association had about 160 members who had volunteered to “even pay the supreme sacrifice”.
The secretary-general said peace maintenance needed the provision of adequate logistics support.
He said the association had been operating under difficult condition which was making it impossible to achieve its set objectives.
He, however, said that the association had been getting support from the Police and other security agencies in the state.
