Security Guard Docked For Stealing Public Address System

Mararaba (Nasarawa State) –   The police on Friday arraigned a 27-year-old security guard, Christopher Anyebe in a Mararaba Chief Magistrates’ Court for stealing a Public Address System worth N175,000.

The defendant, who resides at Aso Mararaba in Nasarawa State is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, theft and negligent conduct.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Okoro, told the court that Anyebe committed the offences at Mechizdicta Acedemy in Mararaba on April 18.

Okoro said that the defendant, employed as security guard in a school, accommodated one Onoja Ejike and his girlfriend Cecilia Ochigbo without the consent of the school authority.

He told the court that the defendant negligently allowed the school Public Address System, valued at N175,000 to be stolen by unknown person.

The prosecutor said that Anyebe, who denied the allegation, however, said during police investigation that he suspected one Daniel Onche and Donatus Chinke as the culprits.

He said the offences contravened sections 97, 288 and 196 of the Penal Code.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty and the Chief Magistrate, Mr Vincent Gwehemba, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.

Gwehemba ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should deposit his passport photograph with the court’s registrar.

He adjourned the case until May 23 for hearing.
