Abuja – Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday sentenced one Ibrahim Turba, 22, a security guard, to two months imprisonment for theft.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave him an option to pay N10,000 fine and warned him to desist from committing crimes.
Sadiq also ordered the convict to pay N427,500 to the nominal complainant.
The convict, who resides at Katampe Extension, Gwarimpa, Abuja, was convicted on a count charge levelled against him.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Zannah Dalhatu, told the court that one Jafaru Damulak of Utako Abuja reported the matter at Gwarimpa Police Station on Jan. 26.
Dalhatu said that in October and November 2016, Turba dishonestly sold six tipper loads of Indian bamboo valued at N427,000 that was entrusted in his custody.
The prosecutor said during police investigation, Turba confessed to the crime, adding that the offence is punishable under Section 288 of the Penal Code.
