Security Guards In Court For Alleged Negligence

Ibadan, – Two security guards –  Abraham Okwori, 24, and Saheed Alawode, 30 –  on Thursday appeared  before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for alleged conspiracy and negligence.

The duo, whose residential addresses were not provided, allegedly  conspired and abandoned their duty posts at Kayrace Security company, Suwebat Plaza in Odo-Ona, Elewe, Ibadan.

The prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Dec. 20, from 2. 30 a.m. to  4. 20 a.m.

Amusan alleged that the duo unlawfully abandoned their duty posts.

He alleged that the act led to stealing of  customers’ property and caused disrepute to the company.

Amusan said the offences contravened Sections 516 and 344 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akande, granted them bail in the sum of N50, 000 and one  surety each in like sum.

She adjourned the case until Feb. 8 for hearing. (NAN)
