Sokoto- Alhaji Mamman Tsafe, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Logistics and Supply, on Thursday said the Nigeria Police was being repositioned to confront any internal security threats.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN ) reports that Tsafe said this while addressing officers and men of the Sokoto State Police Command as part of his tour of police formations in the north west. .
He said that the current leadership of the police was fully committed to the welfare of its personnel, to ensure productivity.
Tsafe also explained that training and retraining of officers and men of the force would enable them to acquire more knowledge for effective performance .
He commended officers and men of the command for demonstrating high sense of professional conduct that led to the peaceful conduct of the just -concluded general elections.
The DIG further called on police personnel to brace up for the challenges, especially the cattle rustling in some part of Sokoto and Zamfara states.
He expressed delight with the effort of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 10 Sokoto for putting in place various security strategies that sustained the peaceful environment in the state.
Earlier, Alhaji Salihu Fagge, the Commissioner of Police in the state, said that crime had reduced to barest minimum.

He said the command had engaged all stakeholders on security and other agencies on a holistic approach to tackling crime through patrols and intelligence gathering.
The CP explained that already, sensitive security measures had been adopted to arrest and prosecute cattle rustlers.
He said that the command had discovered that cattle rustlers now disguised as vigilante group members from Zamfara and usually crossed to Sokoto to commit crime.
He said such incidents were recorded in Isa and Sabon Birni local government areas of Sokoto State, adding that steps had been taken to guard against a recurrence. ( NAN )
