YENAGOA (Sundiata Post) – The Bayelsa State Coordinator of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Comrade Alagoa Morris, has stressed that if Nigerians desire change of the old order and present status quo, they should see Peter Obi’s campaign for the presidency as their own project.

Alagoa stated this at the weekend in Yenagoa when he led other campaign officials on a visit to the leadership of the Igbo Traders Union at Swali Market, Yenagoa to mobilise support for the party’s flagbearer in next year’s presidential election.

He expressed delight at the level of sensitisation carried out by the leadership of the market union on the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and urged them to make sacrifices and sustain their support for the Obi presidency to make it a reality.

The environmental rights activist now campaign coordinator said millions of Nigerians are in support of Obi due to his personality and what he represents, describing him as a special breed and an uncommon man.

His words: “As members of the PCC, it is our responsibility to reach out to all stakeholders. All of us are in this project because of the personality of Mr. Peter Obi and what he represents; he is a special breed and uncommon man.

“We may not have all the monies to spend, but we all have to sacrifice. This is not the usual kind of politics or elections. We should take Peter Obi as our own project. We are also preaching the gospel of sacrifice because this is our project for those who want positive change in Nigeria.

“If you want the old order and the status quo to remain, then you allow them to buy your votes and we keep lamenting again and again.”

Also speaking, a member of the PCC and state Coordinator of Like Minds for Peter Obi, Patricia Edoumieyekumo, said Obi is the kind of man that will listen to the plight of the people and act swiftly.

Edoumieyekumo said: “We the people are the ones contesting this presidential election. He (Peter Obi) is just representing us. We don’t want a president who will use police and army to block himself from members of the public. He is the peoples’ president.”

In her remarks, a member of the South-South Zone of the PCC, Dr Tari Fekoregha, said that Nigeria was in a coma and badly needed the right medication in the person of Obi to resuscitate it.

Fekoregha also noted that the country had been brought to its knees by various dimensions of frightening security challenges, adding that Obi is divinely empowered to lead Nigeria.

Receiving the LPPCC officials, chairman of Igbo Traders Union, Apostle Paul Chima, said the country was in dire need of positive change as both the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the major opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had failed the people.

Chima said, “We need change. This country needs change, not the change that APC talked and we did not see anything like change. What we see is more bondage.

“The APC and the PDP have failed Nigerians and it is the right time for us to have a change. We the entire traders, both in the ultra-modern and mini markets, are in support of Peter Obi. I am assuring us that he has already won.”
