Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), has tasked the general public to collaborate with security agencies by providing information that will lead to the arrest of criminals.

The Commandant of the Academy, Maj-Gen John Ochai stated this on Wednesday at Ado-Ekiti during a lecture delivered at the Afe Babalola University.

Rephrasing his words of “citizens must play a role in providing information to security agencies to tackle insecurity effectively”, our correspondent echoed it to be “see something, say something”.

Speaking during the lecture titled: “Insecurity, Leadership and Peace Building in Nigeria: Dynamics and Challenges,” the Army General noted that armed forces and security agencies can only create an enabling environment for lasting peace and security.

He however emphasized the need for a collective effort to address insecurity in Nigeria.

He also did not forget to praise the founder of the University, Mr. Emmanuel Aare Afe Babalola, for investing in education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, and environmental sustainability.

The Army boss highlighted how Babalola’s efforts have sparked innovative ideas among students and staff, contributing to progress in various sectors.

Also, during an interactive session, participants addressed security concerns and issues.

The lecture generated significant interest among students and staff, demonstrating the university’s commitment to fostering informed discussions on critical national issues, a statement signed by the Spokesman of the Academy, Major Mohammed Maidawa, said.

Our correspondent reports that the University was established in 2009 and has become a reputable institution with six colleges, including medicine, law, engineering, and social sciences.
